Dirham (Bronze, 29 mm, 13.08 g, 7 h), citing Qutb al-Din Sukman II and the Ayyubid Sultan Saladin, al-Hisn, AH 581 = AD 1185/6. Bearded Sasanian style bust to left, draped and wearing mural crown; around, 'Ala'smi'llah duriba bi'l-Hisn sanah ahad wa thamanin wa khamsami'a' in Kufic. Rev. in innner field and around, 'al-Malik al-adil Qutb / al-Din Sukman ibn / Muhammad ibn Qaraslan / ibn Artuq Mu'in al-ima/m al-Nasir / li-din Allah \ al-Malik al-Nasir / Salah al-Din'; all in Kufic. Spengler & Sayles 12. Rare and unusually attractive. Some areas of weakness, otherwise, about extremely fine.

The head on the obverse of this issue was copied from the coins of the Sasanian king Shahpur I (AD 240-270).
